Job Context

Works with the development team to transfer products into production, sustain products in production and assist in transfer of production to off-shore high volume facility. Role is located in Operations and has strong interactions with development teams, reliability team and product design authority.

 

Main Responsibilities

Has front line responsibility for pass/fail of wafers through lot validation process;

Owns the parametric yield of specified products or a product family in production;

Owns the internal parametric performance specification of the product, insetting the customer requirement to protect downstream yield:

Recommend changes to process parameters in order to improve downstream yield (requires design authority non-objection);

Develop the understanding of causes of parametric failure in product, and uses this knowledge to work with process engineers to drive yield improvement;

Owns the responsibility for ensuring parametric yield excursions are resolved (including test, reliability, inspection and mechanical parameters);

Maintains yield information in cost models for test, inspection and validation operations;

Ensures that products being accepted into production are parametrically stable and sufficiently well understood;

During product transfer, acts as a consultant to colleagues in China to ensure they understand effects of process on parametric parameters.

 

Skills/Qualifications

Essential :

Excellent knowledge of solid state physics as related to opto-electronic devices (semiconductor physics, optics) as evidenced by, for example, relevant M.Sc., Ph.D., or good relevant first degree with more than 2 years related industry experience.

 

Desirable:

Understanding of commercial semiconductor wafer fabrication / test environment;

Sound knowledge of statistical methods (SPC, tests of significance).
