University
& Joint Research
Staff
at CIP have successfully worked for many years alongside
Universities, research institutes and companies in a variety
of consortia across Europe. CIP is now continuing this by offering
itself as either a full partner on focused research or a prototyping
sub-contractor.
As
an example of how CIP has worked successfully with four UK
universities, CIP recently prototyped a range
of optoelectronic components under the “PRINCE” project,
funded by the UK Engineering Physical Science Research Council (EPSRC). These
included:
- Planar
silica waveguides
- Semiconductor
Optical Amplifiers
- Electroabsorption
modulators
- Nanostructures
- Microfluidic
structures
As
the technology partner for this consortium of UK universities,
CIP has been able to provide state-of-the art components to
advance university research.
The
value that CIP offers University partners is to make research
components efficiently, on time and to specification. The Centre
offers a proven, highly cost-effective design and fabrication
service. More than this, CIP’s researchers work with
their University counterparts to develop innovative research
proposals for funding submission.
EPSRC
fully supports the work of CIP as an asset to University research,
and has agreed
to support access to CIP by University academic departments
by funding
full economic costs on research grants.
Please
contact CIP if you are developing a UK EPSRC proposal requiring
photonic devices, planar silica
components, optical coatings, microfluidics, custom
device fabrication, or advanced system test facilities, - we will be able
to help you.
