Over many years of work CIP has developed significant knowledge of the development and manufacturing issues associated with photonic components. Currently CIP produces world leading SOA, EAM, SLD and Regenerator products and is always extending the boundaries of performance of these devices. CIP’s strengths in product prototyping and pilot manufacture come from the vertically integrated approach taken. CIP’s engineers can conduct all the processes in-house for the development and pilot manufacture of a product from fundamental device modelling up to system testing in complex communication system configurations

Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers CIP’s range of SOAs are designed and optimized for Pre-Amplification, Booster Amplification, Switching and Wavelength Conversion applications.

 

Electroabsorption Modulator (EAM) CIP’s range of Electro-absorption Modulators are available at both 1300nm and 1550nm (C Band), they have high optical output power, low insertion loss and low drive voltage and are available as a packaged device or as a chip on carrier.

 

Optical Sampling Window Generators CIP’s Optical Window Generators are available at both 10GHz and 40GHz, and operate in the 1550nm (C Band) window, They are packaged suitable for easy use in the lab, but may also be provided in a customer defined package or in chip-on-carrier format with specifications to be agreed.

 

Superluminescent Diodes (SLD) SLEDs are designed and optimized to function as broadband light sources in applications including optical coherence tomography, life science imaging systems, fiber optic sensors and optical test instruments.

 

Optical Regenerators The Optical Regenerator is an innovative high speed optical switch that provides all-optical wavelength conversion at data rates up to 40Gbit/s. It has applications in 2R regenera-tion and as an optical logic gate. The optical module is a hy-brid integrated device consisting of a passive, planar silica balanced Mach-Zehnder interferometer with non-linear Semi-conductor.

 

Microfluidic Devices CIP’s expertise in glass processing, built up over many years of machinging and working with glass allows them to design and manufacture glass based microfluidic plates using wet etching. Complex structures may also be formed using a combination of glass and SU-8 polymer.

 

Custom Products CIP can offer a one-stop photonics design and prototyping capability through to manufacturing solutions to meet customers' specific product performance requirements and time to market schedules. From photonics design & simulation, epitaxial growth, wafer fabrication, chip production, optical coating, packaging, photonic measurements, product tests and screening.
