Opto-electronic
Design
CIP
provides contract R&D from concept through to pilot production
for a large range of optoelectronic components. As part of
this CIP offers a world leading device design consultancy. Our
hands on experience with growth and
fabrication processes of a wide range of components, means we
are able to quickly identify practical design solutions. This
is backed up by a strong device modelling capability with a suite
of simulation tools.
Capabilities
& Experience
CIP's
engineers have developed and produced a whole host of optoelectronic
components, from PIN diodes for high reliability submarine systems
through to world leading 40 Gbit/s electroabsorption modulators
and
semiconductor optical amplifiers. These same engineers have also
transferred many of these components to full production with
customers. This experience allows us to design for low cost
reliable solutions from the outset. Whether it is a full component
requirement or just part of the process that is required CIP
can provide a solution that meets your needs.
Device
Examples
CIP
offers a service which stretches from material design, through
mask layout through to full fabrication, testing and reliability
screening of a wide range on InP based components based on both
ridge waveguide and buried
heterostructure geometries. Some example device types are listed
below:
- FP
and DFB lasers
- DBR
and widely tuneable lasers
- PIN
diodes and APD detectors
- Electroabsorption
modulators
- Semiconductor
optical amplifiers
- 1480nm
Pump lasers
- Monolithic
integrated components, e.g. ILM's
and
switch arrays
The
CIP team also have extensive experience in the design of
optical mode expanders and precision alignment structures that
enable both low cost integration and packaging. Coupled with
all of these device types that can
been grown and fabricated by CIP is our ability to fully test
and characterise devices and optimise the designs using custom
and commercially available modelling tools.
